Novae Energy’s principals and affiliated companies have developed, owned, operated, and sold a diverse portfolio of natural gas distribution systems, transmission interconnects, cogeneration facilities, and natural gas production assets across the United States and internationally. These projects reflect more than three decades of successful execution in regulated and unregulated energy infrastructure.

NATURAL GAS DISTRIBUTION

Sierra Army Depot (California) – High Desert Pipeline

Natural Gas Distribution System

High Desert Pipeline, a Novae-affiliated company, built, owned, operated, and maintained the natural gas distribution system at the Sierra Army Depot under contract with the United States Army. The system originates at an interconnect with Tuscarora Gas Transmission, where gas pressure is regulated from approximately 800 psig to 200 psig, and then further reduced to 5–50 psig, depending on end-use requirements.

The system delivers firm supplies of natural gas for space heating and commercial operations serving reclaimed warehouse and industrial facilities. After 25 years of operations, High Desert Pipeline sold the physical system assets to the Sierra Army Depot, while retaining management of firm transportation capacity on Tuscarora and continuing to provide full requirement of the Depot’s natural gas supply.

The distribution system consists of:

  • A high-pressure regulation station with parallel regulator sets
  • Monitoring, recording, and alarm instrumentation
  • A 7-mile, 4-inch steel transmission pipeline
  • A secondary regulator station serving privatized commercial and industrial work areas

Additional facilities include:

  • Approximately 7 miles of distribution main, including 1,500 feet of 6-inch steel pipe
  • 4”, 3”, and 2” plastic distribution mains
  • Plastic service lines with industry-standard regulators, meter sets, and cathodic protection
  • Two boiler plants and 56 industrial and storage facilities served

Dayton, Texas – Baker Performance Chemical

Texas-Ohio Distribution, Inc. (TOD), a Novae affiliate, built, owned, and operated a two-mile dedicated intrastate natural gas pipeline serving Baker Performance Chemical. The system is interconnected with the United Texas Transmission pipeline. Following Huntsman Chemical’s acquisition of the Baker facility, TOD sold the pipeline assets to Huntsman Chemical.

Channelview, Texas – Sartomer, Inc.

TOD developed and operated a dedicated natural gas pipeline supplying Sartomer, Inc. The facility was later sold to a Total Energy affiliate, which operated the plant for an additional five years before closure.

Kentucky – TruSeal Manufacturing

TOD constructed and operated a three-mile natural gas pipeline connected to a local gathering system to serve TruSeal Manufacturing. After long-term successful operation, the local regulated utility assumed ownership and operations.

Fort Bend County, Texas – MidCon Interconnect

A Novae-affiliated HESCO company built, owned, and operated a pipeline interconnect with MidCon Texas, serving a large industrial end user. After ten years of operation, the system was sold to Laser Midstream of Houston, Texas.

Banquete, Texas – Natural Gas Distribution System

The natural gas distribution system serving Banquete, Texas, was acquired and operated by Novae affiliate HESCO Resources. After eleven months of system upgrades and operational improvements, the assets were sold to CenterPoint Energy.

NATURAL GAS TRANSMISSION

Kentucky Strategic Interconnect

Texas-Ohio Pipeline (TOP), a Novae affiliate, developed a strategic intrastate pipeline interconnect between:

  • Tennessee Gas Pipeline
  • Texas Eastern Gas Transmission

This critical infrastructure enabled up to 100,000 MCF/day to bypass operational curtailments and ensure firm delivery into the Northeast U.S. market. The pipeline was later sold to Xcel Energy.

COGENERATION & POWER GENERATION

Colorado – Coors Biotech Cogeneration Facility

Texas-Ohio Power, Inc. (TOPower), a Novae affiliate, developed, constructed, owned, and operated an 8 MW steam-injected turbine cogeneration facility for Coors Biotech, a subsidiary of Adolph Coors.

  • Operated for nearly five years
  • Achieved greater than 99% availability
  • Successfully sold to e’prime, the unregulated affiliate of Public Service Company of Colorado

Guatemala – Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala Floating Power Barge

TOPower developed a 124 MW floating power generation facility for Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala, powered by:

  • Ten Wartsila Vasa 32 diesel generator units
  • Installed on a floating barge anchored at the Port of Puerto Quetzal

This first-of-its-kind floating power project was later sold to Enron International Power.

Northeastern United States – Distributed Cogeneration

TOPower also developed and placed into commercial service four additional 3.5 MW cogeneration projects, all of which were subsequently sold to their host industrial customers.

Southern California – Industrial Cogeneration BOOT Projects

Novae affiliate HESCOGEN, with General Electric as prime contractor, developed, owned, and operated three industrial cogeneration systems totaling 8 MW behind Southern California Edison. These projects were structured as Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) agreements, with ownership transferring to the host facilities after five years of operation.

NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION

Blue Ridge Gas Partners, LLC – Wetzel Co., West Virginia

Novae’s production affiliate, Blue Ridge Gas Partners, LLC, currently:

  • Holds approximately 600 net mineral acres
  • Operates six low-pressure natural gas wells
  • Produces from the Upper Devonian Shale
  • Delivers production via a six-mile gathering system
  • Interconnects with Columbia Gas Transmission
